What is Silver 925 (Sterling Silver)?

Silver 925 is an alloy composed of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% copper or other metals.

Because pure silver (99.9%) is very soft and prone to scratching, 925 is considered the ideal balance of beauty and durability for jewelry.

It has been widely used by renowned high-end jewelers such as Tiffany & Co. for many years. It is generally less likely to cause skin irritation (though this may vary by individual). If tarnishing occurs due to a natural reaction with sulfur in the air, the original shine can be restored by gently polishing with a silver cloth.
